- Arthur Googy
Arthur Googy (Joseph McGuckin) was a drummer for the
Horror Punk bandThe Misfits .He was the longest running drummer of the bands original era, spanning the years 1980 - 1982, and was present during the "Master Sound Productions Sessions" that led to the
Walk Among Us album. He would tour with the band in several infamous shows, many of which ended up on highly sought-after bootlegs. His contributions include the albums Walk Among Us,
Evilive and3 Hits From Hell . His work is also prevalent inCollection I andCollection II , as well as the drummer for tracks 9, 12 and 13 on the albumLegacy of Brutality . "Die, Die My Darling" from theEarth A.D. album is also attributed to him.Jerry Only states in the book "American Hardcore" that he attributed a significant amount of success for the album Walk Among Us due to Arthur's dedication to the music and rehearsals. Only goes on to reveal that Arthur worked a full time job in construction in NYC, lived in Queens and traveled daily to New Jersey.
Googy quit the band after he had requested a second hamburger at a fast food restaurant while on tour.
Glenn Danzig had been managing the bands budget at the time and thought two hamburgers was too expensive. After leaving the band, Googy decided he wanted to promote a more 'positive message' for punk rock. He created a band called Antidote, and addressed the Nazi rhetoric of certain punk bands during the time period, such as
Skrewdriver .A letter written by Danzig (to Tesco) after Googy's removal states:
"Googy is gone but not forgotten. True Googy quote," 'If I could blow myself I would.' "Everybody went" 'WHAT!!!' "and so he repeated it and we kicked him out of the van. He offered to play drums for us again but being on the road with him was the worst. He only scanned two chicks in California. One was an old groupie slut with VD, an ugly flesh sac body, plus the other was fat" [and] "ugly. I have many other stories in a book called" Tales of Googy. "Wait till ol' homo-New-Wave finds out."
Googy lives in New York. Works as a superintendent on the upper east side
