Glenda Hatchett

Glenda Hatchett

Glenda A. Hatchett (born December 14, 1951) is the former star of the television show, "Judge Hatchett".

History

Hatchett was born in Atlanta, Georgia. She received her B.A. in political science from Mount Holyoke College in 1973 and law degree from Emory University School of Law in 1977.

Career

She worked in the legal and public relations departments at Delta Air Lines and then received her first judicial appointment as the chief presiding judge of the Fulton County, Georgia Juvenile Court. She started her career as a judge on October 1, 1990. Hatchett had been the star of the series "Judge Hatchett" from 2000 to 2008.

Her "intervention" episodes where she helps troubled young people set their lives on the right track distinguishes her from other television judges and has gained her popular acclaim as a "hands-on" judge. She also played Judge Warren on the December 14, 2006 episode of "The Young and the Restless".

During her career she wrote a national bestseller, "Say What You Mean and Mean What You Say", that was based on her experiences as both a jurist and a mother. The book deals with strategies adults and parents can use to enable children to reach their full potential.

She is also the national spokesperson for Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), a program that works towards representing abused or neglected children in the court
