Anderson worked on
Nik Turner 'sSphynx album in 1978. He played withSteve Hillage on two albums,Live Herald andOpen , and had a brief stint inHawkwind in 1983, but did not record with them. His tenure in that group was cut short when he played withThe Glove on their first and only album "Blue Sunshine ".He later joined
The Cure as their drummer in 1983, after drummerLol Tolhurst switched to keyboard duties. Andy helped record the albums "Japanese Whispers ", "The Top", and "Concert". Anderson was, and still is, the only member of The Cure of African descent.Andy was fired by Robert Smith on
17 October 1984 and replaced byBoris Williams after he got into a fight with security guards after a gig atTokyo 's Nakano Sun Hall during the Japanese leg of the Top Tour. He has since recorded music for TV commercials and recorded music with other bands. In an interview about twenty years after Anderson's departure, Lol Tolhurst claimed that Anderson suffered fromhypoglycemia , which may have caused his erratic behavior.
