Prior to 1997 she represented Albania.
She won the silver medal at the 2000 Summer Olympics with a personal best of 67.51 m, and the bronze medal in 2004. Manjani is also a European champion and double world champion. Her personal best throw of 67.51 metres is the current Greek record.[1] She is also the current holder of the Albanian record in javelin with 62.64.[2]
She represented Albania at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, USA. Mirela Manjani then married the weightlifter George Tzelili (born in Albania, Gjergj Xhelili) in 1997, becoming a Greek citizen. She was known as Mirela Manjani-Tzelili until 2002, when she divorced Tzelili.
