Wang Hao (born December 15, 1983 in Changchun) is a Chinese table tennis player. Reigning World Cup Champion as of 2007, Singles Silver medalist at the 2004 Summer Olympics and 2008 Summer Olympics Games. Reigning world no.1. His boyish looks and resonating bass has also won him a large fanbase in Asia. As of the 2007 World Cup a majors titleholder.

Reverse backhand

Wang uses a penhold grip. He is representative of the new wave, having both superior attacking and defensive skills off both wings and possessing greater athleticism than ever before seen. However, his backhand is a standout stroke when one realises that he does not need to step around it to finish a point, something largely unheard of before Wang's domination, moreover he is capable of incredible shot making from his backhand side.

The greater freedom of the wrist involved in a penhold grip allows Wang Hao to generate superior amounts of spin. As a result he has greater angles at his disposal and is capable of high percentage attacking play well within the table, where other players would be jammed.

Forehand

At its best as a driving ball forcing his opponent behind the table. Though not considered the best in the world, a solid and heavy ball that is also capable of shot making.
