Lenentine

Lenentine

Lenentine is a Huguenot surname. The family immigrated from France to the United States. There is a strong population in Houlton, Maine, where there is a Lenentine reunion every summer on Labor Day weekend at Monticello Grange Hall. There is also a reunion for a more Canadian version of the family in Connecticut. The Lenentine family is spread throughout New England with the major concentration being in Maine.

Zachary Lenentine was one of the founders of Unity College, in Unity, Maine, and a prominent member of the Oneida Society.

More Lenentine's reside in Parts Of Virginia, Florida, Alabama, New Jersey, and New Mexico, but the Maine branch is most prominent.

Legend has it that a long lost son of the Lenentine family actually settled in the Delaware Valley area of New Jersey near the Washington's Crossing historical site. Petrucio was a particularly handsome Lenentine that never seemed too shy in the public light. Petrucio encountered what was described as the 1st sighting of the Jersey Devil while out on a 20 Mile Run. This encounter lead the Delaware Valley inhabitants to record the 1st sighting of the Jersey Devil and the Lore of Petrucio into the records of history.
