Bremer Ehrler (born
July 10 ,1914 ), a Democrat, served asCounty Judge/Executive ofJefferson County, Kentucky , was elected to three terms ascounty clerk for Jefferson County beginning in 1973, served as postmaster ofLouisville, Kentucky in the 1960s, and was elected to a term asKentucky Secretary of State (1988-1992) and served as appointed Jefferson Countysheriff (1993).Ehrler worked for the
United States Postal Service for 37 years and served in theUnited States Army and Army Reserve, retiring as aLieutenant Colonel .Ehrler was appointed
Jefferson County Judge/Executive by GovernorMartha Layne Collins on December 21, 1984 to fill the vacancy left byMitch McConnell after McConnell's election to theUnited States Senate . Ehrler served in that post until January 6, 1986.
