Boys and Girls Clubs of Calgary

The Boys and Girls Clubs of Calgary were founded in 1939 under the name Boys Town and operated out of the basement of the Carleton Hotel in Calgary. They later changed their name to Boys and Girls Clubs of Calgary to better reflect the inclusive nature of the programs. In 1999, they again changed their name, this time to Boys and Girls Club Community Services, this time to better reflect the vast array of services that they offer. These include the eight community clubs across the city, the Avenue 15 homeless shelter for youth, a safe house for children and youth at risk of prostitution, as well as a network of group homes and a Food and Nutrition at School (FANS) program and a summer camp located in Kananaskis Country (Camp Adventure). The Boys and Girls Clubs of Calgary are known to be the largest Boys and Girls Club organization affiliated with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada.
