Gillian Lucky

Gillian Lucky (born April 17 is a Trinidad and Tobago politician and lawyer. Since 2001 she has been United National Congress Member of Parliament for the Pointe-à-Pierre constituency. Lucky is currently an "Independent UNC Parliamentarian" after breaking ranks with the Opposition party.

Lucky is well known for her debating skills; while a student at Naparima Girls' High School she won the "Trintoc Debate", a national Sixth Form debate. After graduating from Hugh Wooding Law School, Lucky worked for a private law firm before working for the Director of Public Prosecutions Office where she worked as a prosecutor. After working for eight years at the DPP's office she moved to the University of the West Indies where she lectured on Business Law and worked as a Disc jockey on Sangeet 106 radio.

In 2000 she worked as campaign manager for Dr. Roodal Moonilal's run against Patrick Manning for the San Fernando East constituency. Although Moonilal lost the election, Lucky was appointed to the Senate and served as Minister in the Ministry of the Attorney General and Legal Affairs until the end of 2001.

She is the daughter and Anthony Lucky, a judge and former candidate for President of Trinidad and Tobago.
