April 17 is aTrinidad and Tobago politician andlawyer . Since 2001 she has beenUnited National Congress Member of Parliament for thePointe-à-Pierre constituency . Lucky is currently an "Independent UNC Parliamentarian" after breaking ranks with the Opposition party.Lucky is well known for her debating skills; while a student at
Naparima Girls' High School she won the "Trintoc Debate", a nationalSixth Form debate. After graduating fromHugh Wooding Law School , Lucky worked for a privatelaw firm before working for theDirector of Public Prosecutions Office where she worked as a prosecutor. After working for eight years at the DPP's office she moved to theUniversity of the West Indies where she lectured onBusiness Law and worked as aDisc jockey onSangeet 106 radio.In 2000 she worked as
campaign manager for Dr.Roodal Moonilal 's run againstPatrick Manning for the San Fernando Eastconstituency . Although Moonilal lost the election, Lucky was appointed to the Senate and served as Minister in the Ministry of theAttorney General and Legal Affairs until the end of 2001.She is the daughter and
