Office of State Revenue (New South Wales)

The Office of State Revenue (OSR) has responsibility for New South Wales taxes. The Office of State Revenue (OSR) is one of two NSW Treasury offices. The other is the Office of Financial Management (OFM). OFM is responsible for State Government accounting, banking, funding and economic advice.

OSR administers State taxation and revenue programs for and on behalf of the people of NSW. OSR helps develop policy, implement legislation, collect revenue, process and enforce outstanding fines and penalties. It administers State taxation laws, including the Land Tax Act 1956, Pay-Roll Tax Act 1971 and the Stamp Duties Act 1920.

In 2005-06 OSR collected A$14.506 billion in revenue, and dispersed A$784.4 billion in benefits and funds.

The Minister responsible for OSR is Michael Costa. The Acting Chief Commissioner of State Taxation is Tony Newbury.
