Francis Joseph, Duke of Guise

Francis Joseph, Duke of Guise

Francis Joseph, 7th Duke of Guise (Paris, August 28, 1670 – March 16, 1675, Paris) was the only son of Louis Joseph, Duke of Guise and Elizabeth d'Orléans, duchesse d'Alençon.

Upon the premature death of his father in 1671, he became Duke of Guise and Joyeuse, and was also styled the Duke of Alençon, in right of his mother. The last male of the senior line of the House of Guise, he was unfortunately sickly; and like his father, he fell prey to smallpox and died in 1675. He was succeeded by his great-aunt Marie.
