- Washington Prism
Washington Prism is a weeklyonline journal of culture, politics and public affairs in Persian, dedicated to bringing the news and views of concern from the United States and beyond to the Persian speaking countries and communities in an accurate, comprehensive and analytical manner. The primary function of Washington Prism is to act as a bridge between the Northern American community and the Persian speaking world by functioning as a hub for the collection of Persian publications and news services that can then freely use its materials for their respected audience.
At the time of its establishment in June 2005, Washington Prism was affiliated with the
Center for Defense Information (CDI), a non-profit, non-governmental organization dedicated to strengthening security through international cooperation, reduced reliance on unilateral military power to resolve conflict, reduced reliance on nuclear weapons, a transformed and reformed military establishment, and, prudent oversight of, and spending on, defense programs. In latter days of July 2005, CDI has been absorbed into a new umbrella organization known as the
World Security Institute (WSI). The newly created Institute which is also a non-profit, non-partisan and non-governmental organization, committed to independent research and journalism on global affairs, is comprised of four divisions: Center for Defense Information, International Media, International Programs, andAzimuth Media . Theses are all operating as independent but interconnected units under WSI. These divisions, which are distinguished through their broad and international scope and close collaboration with foreign specialists and media, serve to educate the public and policy-makers about U.S. and global challenges, while identifying creative solutions to meet them. After the formation of WSI, Washington Prism along with three other on-line magazines (
Washington Observer in Chinese,Washington Profile in Russian andTaqrir Washington in Arabic) became part of the International Media Division. The general aim of this division and its on-line electronic media is to bridge the chasm of misunderstanding that exists between the United States and the rest of the world by presenting facts, information and a diversity of voices and opinions and educate audiences across the globe about political, social, and cultural issues in theUnited States .●Reprinted with the permission of The Washington Prism.
