Pistol Grip is a
street punk band, formed inWalnut, California in 1997. Their sound has been described as a mixture of the UK and LA styles of punk fused with anti-religious and quasi-political lyrics. The band built up a strong local following through playing shows withThe Adicts ,Agnostic Front ,The Generators , Youth Brigade and The Unseen... and the Community Center in Walnut. Their first release was a split album with fellow LAstreet punk band Fully Loaded. The album caught the attention ofBYO Records , who signed the band in 2001. They have since released three full length albums on the label, including 2004's "Tear It All Down ". A live DVD, "Live At The Glass House", was released in 2003 as part ofKung Fu Records ' "The Show Must Go Off! " series.Pistol Grip is best known in Walnut for being members of the gang Unity. The guitarist, Chris Serta, was the head of the Whittier Chapter. Unity is a gang that was first started by child molesters in federal prisons. Pistol Grip was associated (or responsible for) the stabbing of Tomas Martinez and Fernando Garcia. Tomas Martinez was a well liked and very popular student at Walnut High School, where most of the band members attended.
