George Earle Buckle

George Earl Buckle (June 10, 1854 - March 13, 1935) was an English editor and biographer.

His father was a rector, and canon and precentor of Wells Cathedral, and his mother was the sister of the philologist John Earle. He studied with distinction at New College, Oxford, becoming a Fellow of All Souls College.

He joined the editorial staff of "The Times", and was editor from 1884 to 1912. In addition, he completed William Flavelle Monypenny's "Life of Benjamin Disraeli" and was an editor of Queen Victoria's letters.

In 1885 Buckle married Alicia Isobel, the third daughter of the novelist James Payn. Alicia died in 1898, and he later married his first cousin Beatrice Anne, the second daughter of John Earle.
