NTS 92G/07Burke Mountain is a
mountain located in northeastCoquitlam, British Columbia , north of Port Coquitlam on the ridge system leading toCoquitlam Mountain . The mountain is a popular destination for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and winter snowmobile trips. Burke Mountain is not to be confused with Mount Burke, a low hill at the end of Cedar Drive in Coquitlam near Minnekehada Park.Major access is via Coast Meridian Road. Rural development currently occupies the mountain base, however the City of Coquitlam plans to build 10,000 houses on the mountain near the end of Coast Meridian Road.

Burke mountain was named for
Edmund Burke by CaptainGeorge Henry Richards of the HMS "Plumper" while surveyingBurrard Inlet in 1860 [cite web | title=Local names recall big mistakes of history |url=http://web.archive.org/web/20040704073040/http://bguiled.com/column-99-07.htm |author=Brenda Guiled | work=The Tri-City News |date=1999-07-18 | accessdate=2007-02-21] .In the 1970s, the mountain was the site of a minor ski development, including a lodge at the top of the mountain, a rope tow, and a ski village lower on the mountain. The ski area was abandoned when a fire burned down the lodgeFact|date=February 2007. The current map of the area still shows a symbol for the ski area.
The mountain was placed in Pinecone Burke Provincial Park on the park's creation in 1996. The cabins still exist, and are leased from BC Parks since they are now on park land.
