- Wojciech Chrzanowski
Wojciech Chrzanowski (1793–1861) was a Polish general who participated in Napoleon's
Russia n campaign and in the battles ofLeipzig , Paris, and Waterloo. After Napoleon's final defeat he served in the national army ofPoland , and was underHans Karl von Diebitsch inTurkey in 1828/29.Chrzanowski was born on
January 14 ,1793 inBiskupice . He was made Governor ofWarsaw in1831 . He was suspected of being untrustworthy in his conduct with theRussia ns and was shunned by many of the people. Charles Albert( Carlo Alberto ), King of Sardinia, chose Chrzanowski, who then served as commander in chief of theSardinia n forces in1849 . He andGirolamo Ramorino were accused of treachery, and Ramorino was executed. Chrzanowski lived for a time inLouisiana but died in Paris (February 26 ,1861 ). He published several works in Polish.Publications
