Sacha Gervasi

Born in London in 1966, Sacha Gervasi is an English screenwriter whose directorial debut, " [http://www.anvilthemovie.com Anvil! The Story of Anvil] " premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2008. The film chronicles the few peaks and countless valleys of Canadian heavy metal band, Anvil (band) who have been together for more than three decades. It won the Audience Award at the 2008 Sydney Film Festival and the 2008 L.A. Film Festival.

The film will be released in the UK in November 2008.

Gervasi got his film writing start with The Big Tease which he co-wrote with Craig Ferguson and went on to pen The Terminal which was made into a film in 2004 directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Tom Hanks. He has subsequently written 'Comrade Rockstar' for Tom Hanks, 'How to Marry A Millionaire' for Nicole Kidman, and is also co-writing 'Henry's Crime' for Keanu Reaves. He is currently developing a biopic of midget actor Herve Villechaize with Peter Dinklage attached as the lead. The project is based on Gervasi's days as a journalist and his interview with Villechaize, conducted eight days before the actor committed suicide. After attending Westminster School, Gervasi earned a degree in modern history from King's College London before going on to work for British Poet Laureate, Ted Hughes at The Arvon Writing Foundation, the charity Hughes started with Sylvia Plath.

He moved to Los Angeles in 1995 to attend the graduate screenwriting program at UCLA Film School where he twice won the BAFTA/LA scholarship. While in the program, he supported himself by writing for The Times, The Observer and Punch among many.

It is believed that Sacha is the inspiration for the character of Alex De Silva in the book "How To Lose Friends and Alienate People" by

While in London, he co-founded the group Future Primitives, playing drums, but left the year before they changed their name to Bush and became world famous.

He is the father of Bluebell Madonna Halliwell, daughter of former Spice Girl and U.N. Ambassador Geri Halliwell, born on 14 May 2006.
