History
Sancaka was a scientist who invented an anti-lightning struck serum, finally cracking the formula the night of his girlfriend's birthday... which he forgot about it in the midst in his work. She broke up with him, causing the hearthbroken Sancaka to run off in the stormy night. He was struck by lightning, and elevated to "Lightning Land" where Kronz, the king of Lightning Land, adopted him as his commander and his son, renaming him Gundala, the son of lightning. Kronz subsequently commanded him to attack Cloud Land. After some adventures on Covox,Pangeran Mlaar's planet, Gundala returned to Earth and be superhero.
Gundala The Movie
There is a movie being in development for a June 2009 release, titled "Gundala Putra Petir". The movie will involves heavy use of computer effects, delegated to local f/x house called "Clockwork Factory". There will be 4 major action set-pieces, with one involving Gundala and cars chase sequences on the freeway.
Bumi Langit Pictures and Grha Media Visi are bringing back Gundala, the classic Indonesian superhero created by Hasmi, into the big screen coming up on June, 2009. Gundala The Movie is a collaboration work of the country's young talents, dedicated to capture and present an ultimate superhero adventure to the audiences.
The movie if now in development and will be released next year.

SYNOPSIS - An ancient artifact, a powerful ring that granted ultimate powers to its bearer, is the source of conflict that has been going on for hundred years. Sancaka, a young archaeolog is pulled into the center of the conflict and ultimately becoming it's bearer. He transforms into Gundala, The Son of Lightning, the only one standing in the way of Gazul, the shadowy figure who wants the artifact for his evil purpose. Will Gundala be able to stop Gazul's nefarious plan? It will be answered coming up next year, June 2009.
