Uğur Yıldırım (born May 8, 1982 in Apeldoorn) is a Dutch-Turkish footballer currently without a club after being released by Sivasspor.

Club career

A freekick specialist, Yıldırım previously played for Go Ahead Eagles, famous for its youth academy. In the 2003-04 season he scored 6 goals in the First Division match against SC Cambuur. This unique feat drew attention of bigger clubs and Yildirim signed a contract at SC Heerenveen, with whom he had an outstanding debut season. In summer 2007 he transferred to Gaziantepspor and scored 3 goals for his team. During break-up the league, he moved on to title-challengers Sivasspor after claiming Gaziantepspor did not pay his wages for months. In 2005, Yıldırım participated in a free kick tournament held in Marbella, beating out players such as Zinedine Zidane. International career

Having both Turkish and Dutch citizenship, Yıldırım could have played for either the Netherlands or Turkey. He announced his decision to represent the Netherlands on January 22, 2005. On February 9 of that year, he played his first, and up to now only match for the Netherlands, a friendly against England.
