Caldicot Comprehensive School

Caldicot School ( _cy. Ysgol Cil-y-coed) is a coeducational and non-selective secondary school in the town of Caldicot, Monmouthshire in South Wales. Mrs. Gwyer-Roberts is headmistress and has been so since 2001. The school motto is 'Committed to achievement' as seen at the bottom of the school crest. The crest is 'CCS' (an abbreviation of Caldicot Comprehensive School), made to look like a swan.

Buildings

The buildings of Caldicot School are named after local geographic places. Castle, the tallest building, with 4 floors, is named after Caldicot Castle. Grayhill and Deepweir are named after areas of Caldicot.

On the east side of the school, is Deepweir building. It is 3 floors tall, and houses the sixth form pupils, as well as the Maths and Business Studies Departments.

On the west side of the school, is Grayhill building. It is also 3 floors tall, and it where the Key Stage 4 pupils register. The History, I.T., Geography, Drama and Welsh Departments sit within.

In between the two, is Castle building. Inside, are the English, Religious Studies, Media Studies, and Foreign Languages Departments. As mentioned earlier, it is the tallest building, at 4 floors tall.

The Technology Department have their own buildings to teach in. The Music Department also do. There is a field by the school (which is owned by the school), which the school's Physical Education department often use. They also use Caldicot Leisure Centre, for swimming lessons.

Departments

The school's Drama department thrives within the school. Each year the school presents a production which alternates each year between a Musical theatre show and a play (theatre). The most recent of these being West Side Story, which was performed in March 2008.
