Warren Central High School is a high school in Warren Township on the east side of Indianapolis. It has an enrollment of around 4,000, and is a member of the Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference.

Notable Alumni include former NFL quarterback Jeff George, The Today Show and Dateline NBC host Jane Pauley, former NFL player and Super Bowl champion Justin Smith (Tampa Bay Buccaneers), former NFL player Jamie Asher (Washington Redskins), former ESPN Page 2 and current Kansas City Star writer Jason Whitlock, former NBA shooting guard Greg Graham, and the late Jake Laird, an Indianapolis Police Department officer whose line of duty death sparked statewide debate about assault rifles. Ryan Murphy is the creator of the hit FX television series Nip/Tuck.

Athletics

The Warriors have won a state record four consecutive IHSAA (Indiana High School Athletic Association) class 5-A football championships (2003, 2004, 2005 & 2006 ), attaining a ranking as high as #2 in the USA Today Prep Top 25 poll. The cross country team won its first-ever state championship in 2005 and placed 15th in the Nike invitational tournament held in Oregon December 3, 2005. The cross country team repeated as State Champions in 2006. The Warriors also boast state championships in other athletics as well. Warren also was ranked the 3rd best athletic program in the nation and 1st among public schools by Sports Illustrated in 2007. peech

The Warren Central Speech Team has won the Sectional title eight years in a row (2000-2008). In the 2001-2002 season, Warren placed 5th place in AAA Division. In the 2002-2003 three season, they placed 4th place. They continued to rise in this same fashion (2003-2004 – 3rd place, 2004-2005 – 2nd place) In the 2005-2006 speech season, Warren won the Indiana High School Forensics Association AAA State Championship as well as the Grand Champion title for the first time since 1967. The following 2006-2007 season, Warren continued to improve at state with an overall better performance but placing 2nd overall and 2nd in AAA division. In the 2007-2008 speech season, Warren Central won back the title of IHSFA Grand Champions with their third state title in team history.

Winter Guard

The Warren Central Winter Guard program is one of the best in the country. Their top guard competes in Scholastic World Class in both the Indiana Circuit (Indiana High School Color Guard Association, IHSCGA) as well as the national circuit (Winter Guard International, WGI). The Warren Central Winter Guard has 4 state titles in Open Class (2004, 2005, 2006, 2007), was the Open Class silver medalist at WGI World Championships in 2007. Warren Central also has two other guards that compete in the Indiana Circuit in the Cadet and A Classes.
