May 6 ,1944 –November 24 ,1991 ) was a distinguishedproduction designer who won an Oscar for designing theBatmobile and the "noirish" nightmare version ofGotham City inTim Burton 's "Batman" (1989).Born in
London , Furst trained at theRoyal College of Art , London, he gained high praise for his work on Neil Jordan's "The Company of Wolves " (1984). He went on to create convincingVietnam War settings, without leaving England, for Stanley Kubrick's "Full Metal Jacket " (1987), and in 1991 designed the themes for thePlanet Hollywood restaurant inNew York . His final credited film was "Awakenings " (1990).uicide
