Akathethara is a small village in the Palghat district of Kerala state, south India. NSS College of Engineering is situated in this place.This esteemed institution has produced thousands of bright engineers serving in all parts of the world.One unique characteristic of this college is the amazing pull it has over its alumni!The networking among NSS grads is truly praiseworthy.

----Akathethara is also famous for a temple in which the two hands which are supposedly of the Devi are worshipped. Late Smt. Indira Gandhi of the Congress party visited this temple immediately after the split and after hands were chosen as election symbol. The temple is called "Kallekulangara Bhagavati Temple".The Administration of the Temple was run by Palakkadussery royal Family. Akathethara swaroopam'sAriettu vazhcha and Athachamayam were take place this temple on ONAM days
