"I'm Just a Kid" is the debut single by Simple Plan and written by Pierre Bouvier. Taken from their debut album "No Pads, No Helmets... Just Balls". It was featured in the films "Grind", "The New Guy", and "Cheaper by the Dozen". There are both clean and explicit versions of the song. The bridge in the clean version begins with "What the hell", while the bridge in the explicit version starts off with "What the fuck".

Music video

The music video is about how an average guy attempts to impress a popular girl (Eliza Dushku) by trying to perform dangerous activities but other cooler guys interrupt to take his place and fail to succeed while getting injured as the main characters look on with pained expressions of pity but (in the boy's case) a certain amount of schadenfreude. It is also famous for the surreal sequence when the typical cool guy Sebastien Lefebvre gets crashed by a school bus. The music video was made with actors from "The New Guy", such as DJ Qualls, who stars in the movie; as such, it was released as an extra on "The New Guy" DVD. Dushku stars in this movie as the female lead.

Trivia

*Tony Hawk appears in the music video as one of the skateboard audience. He is shown cheering after a performer successfully grinds a rail. He is also in The New Guy with other members of the video.

*Most of the scenes were filmed at Long Beach Poly High School in Long Beach, California.
