Stephen Snoddy

Stephen Snoddy is a British Curator of Contemporary Art and Gallery Director. Born in Northern Ireland the son of an artist and art critic he studied painting before taking a Masters Degree in Museums Studies. His first gallery job was as a junior exhibitions officer at the Arnolfini working under Barry Barker. Snoddy was Head of Exhibitions at Manchester's Cornerhouse and was a key figure in bringing the 1995 "British Art Show" to the City, hosted in several venues.

Following a period as Director of Southampton City Art Gallery and the Milton Keynes Gallery, Snoddy was appointed Director of the BALTIC in 2004, but due to personal circumstances (wishing to spend more time with his family) [ [http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/tyne/4007675.stm BBC Tyne "Baltic centre director steps down"] ] stepped down, and was subsequently reinstated.
