Luzon Buritt Morris (
April 16 1827 –August 22 1895 ) was an American Democraticpolitic ian.Morris was born in
Newtown, Connecticut . He graduated fromYale University in 1854. He served as a member of theConnecticut House of Representatives , a Connecticutprobate judge , a member of theConnecticut Senate and as theGovernor of Connecticut . He was the only member of his party to hold the governorship between 1885 and 1911.During his tenure in the
Connecticut General Assembly he was a member of the commission that settled the border dispute withNew York .Morris was also notable for been an officer of the
Connecticut Savings Bank for several years, some as the president.Morris died of a
stroke , at his home, inNew Haven, Connecticut at the age of 68. He is buried at theEvergreen Cemetery inNew Haven, Connecticut .His daughter, Mary Seymour Morris, married oil industrialist
Charles Millard Pratt (1855-1935), and they had five children.Timeline
