The State Arboretum of Utah (convert|1500|acre|km2|abbr=on) is an
arboretum located across the campus of theUniversity of Utah inSalt Lake City, Utah , as well as on an additional site (convert|147|acre|km2|abbr=on) at theRed Butte Garden and Arboretum . The campus grounds are open to the public every day. The conservatory is open by appointment only.The State Arboretum was established in 1961. It now contains over 8,000 trees (300 species and varieties, including over 40 taxa of
conifer s), and what is claimed to be the largestRussian Olive ("Elaeagnus angustifolia") collection in the United States. The arboretum's conservatory (convert|1100|sqft|m2|abbr=on) contains over 400 exotic taxa. TheRed Butte Garden and Arboretum contains more than 300 largeconifer s and an extensive collection of dwarf conifers (over 75 taxa).See also
