Jaquette Löwenhielm

Jaquette Löwenhielm

Gustava Charlotta Jacquette Aurora Gyldenstolpe (4 July 1797 – 7 January 1839, Constantinople) was the mistress of Oscar I of Sweden during his youth, when he was Crown Prince.

Countess Jaquette's parents were Major General Nils Wexionius, 5th Count Gyldenstolpe (born 31 October 1768 in Forsby, died 28 August 1844 in Stockholm), and his wife (married 12 April 1796 in Stockholm Castle) Baroness Charlotta Aurora De Geer (born 19 September 1779, died 14 May 1834 in Stockholm).

Countess Jaquette Gyldenstolpe married Lieutenant General Count Carl Gustaf Löwenhielm (1790-1858) on 18 September 1817. The marriage was childless, but Jaquette bore a daughter, named Oscaria in 1819 to her lover, the crown prince, who was her junior by two years. The baby was given up to burgher-class foster-parents, and she took their last name.

The Count and Countess Löwenhielm divorced on 1 September 1829.

Her second marriage to the Finnish Baron Uno von Troil (1803-1839) took place on 21 August 1838. Both spouses died within a year of the marriage in Turkey, where Baron von Troil held a diplomatic post. This marriage too was childless.
