Shin-Aomori Station

Nihongo|Shin-Aomori Station|新青森駅|Shin-Aomori-eki is an unstaffed station operated by East Japan Railway Company (JR East) on the Ōu Main Line in Aomori, Aomori Prefecture.

It will be rebuilt to become the terminus of the Tōhoku Shinkansen extension due to open in 2010.

Layout

The station consists of a single bi-directional platform serving a single track.

From 2010, the station is scheduled to have a single island platform for Ōu Main Line trains, serving two tracks. The shinkansen station will consist of two island platforms serving four tracks.

History

* 1 November 1986: Station opens.
* 30 July 2007: Station rebuilding work starts.
* 27 August 2007: New temporary station building and footbridge opens.
