The Face (character)

The Face is a comic book parody character used in short stories of comic book fan fiction by Ben del Mundo. He was created on November 20, 2004, and was inspired by the DC Comics character, the Question. His attire consists of a costume of gray, complete with trenchcoat, fedora, pants, and gloves. In addition he wears a faceless mask in order "to strike fear into the hearts of his enemies" and uses his journalistic investigative skills to solve crimes. However, unlike the Question, he does not use a special gas to bond the mask to his skin, and he uses a taser-mode cell phone as a self-defense weapon.

Fictional character biography

The Face's alter ego, Benny Delman is a journalist for the Daily Times in a place called Sullyville city, a bustling medium metropolis where crime and corruption runs high even in the local food chain restaurants. Exposing those who corrupted society, Delman rose to the occasion with his longtime buddy and co-worker, Tim Higher. It wasn't until an unlikely call from a friend that made him don the featureless face he now wears to find the whereabouts of a missing woman. However, the journalist duo do face opposition from that of their longtime rival, Samantha Winkle, who antagonizes the heroes for their carelessness on the job. Eventually, Delman, as the Face, along with Tim Higher, and three of his other friends (Stephen Litnewski, Bradley Davis, and Hussane Mohammad-Ali) come across a mob-infested factory whose plot involves much more than a simple kidnapping.

#"The Face Issue #10: Phobic Parallelism" - As Stargirl continues to have recurring nightmares of herself doing the unthinkable, the Face investigates the cause, and they along with Archer, discover the frightening truth in a secretive government experiment.
#"The Face Issue #11 - The Face's Folly -AND- Enter: The Fastman!" - The Face is accused of committing the crime of bombing Tomfoolery Studios, and is forced to track down the accuser as well as Punchinello Pierrot to remedy the situation.
#"The Face Issue #12 - Dr. Face and Mr. Doppelganger" - Things get bad to worse as the Face is scarred from the accusations being held against him, and he finds himself fending off an attack by an angry, amphibious female. Plus, he finds out there is a new "Face" in town!
#"The Face Issue #13 - Day of the Doppelganger" - Things get bad to worse as the Face is scarred from the accusations being held against him, and he finds himself fending off an attack by an angry, amphibious female. Plus, he finds out there is a new "Face" in town!
#"The Face Issue #14 - The Ties that Bind" - After three months of quietness, the Face re-emerges once again to don the mask and escape the grasp of his own vengeful, crazed stalker.

Much of the inspirations of these stories came from other works such as the movie Enter the Dragon, starring Bruce Lee, and The Question Comics.

The Face has also appeared in a number of short stories titled "The Justice Union," a spin-off of the Face series, including a number of earth's mightiest heroes similar to the Justice League. Many of the stories were inspired by various Justice League Unlimited episodes as well.
