History

KTCL signed on in 1965 with the call letters, KFMF. In 1975, KFMF adopted a rock music format evolving to the modern rock music format in the early 1980s. KTCL is one of the first commercial radio stations to adopt the modern rock music format. In 2007, it changed its city of license from Fort Collins to Wheat Ridge to provide clearer coverage over the Denver area. It can still be received in Fort Collins. KTCL helped break local bands The Fray, Meese, 3OH!3, Single File, Tickle Me Pink, and Flobots onto the national scene.
