funk "orchestra" fromLos Angeles ,California , formed by Miles Tackett in1996 .
Miles Tackett, also known as "Musicman", plays bass, guitar, keyboards and drums. He also sings along with Mix Master Wolf, who is heard on their cover of "Baby Don't Cry", or on their single "You Don't Need A Dance", for instance. The style in which the band plays is much influenced by late 60's and early 70's soul and funk music, and as "The Live Mix, Part 1" and "The Live Mix, Part 2 " show, they pay a truthful tribute to more or less obscure 45 rpm records, and to artists such as James Brown, The Meters, The Third Guitar, The Mohawks,...
After releasing several EPs and two full-length albums of mostly covers and sample-filled breaks, Breakestra put out "Hit the Floor" in2005 onUbiquity Records , which included all-original recordings fusing elements of hip-hop,funk , and soul.Discography
