Gerald W. Abrams (born 1939) is an American
television producer and the father ofJ. J. Abrams . He graduated fromPenn State University .Abrams began his television career in 1965 with WCBS TV as an account executive. In 1971 he was named General Sales Manager of KCBS, a CBS-owned station in Los Angeles. In 1973 Abrams joined the Jozak Company as Vice President of Creative Affairs. He then produced a
GE Theater Presentation , The Secret Life of John Chapman. Success came when he produced theEmmy Award winning seriesThe Defection of Simas Kudirka .In 1978 Abrams formed his own company, Cypress Point Productions. Through his new company, he executive produced
