Betty Lynn (born August 29 1926 in Kansas City, Missouri) is an American television actress. She is best known for playing Thelma Lou (Barney Fife's girlfriend) in "The Andy Griffith Show". Her film credits include "Sitting Pretty", "June Bride", "Cheaper by the Dozen", and "Payment on Demand".

In 2006, Betty Lynn relocated to Mount Airy, NC, the hometown of Andy Griffith and the town on which Mayberry is believed to have been based despite Griffith's repeated denials.

In July 2007, Betty was a guest at the Western Film Fair in Charlotte, North Carolina along with Jacqueline Scott, Lynn Borden, Lana Wood, Joyce Meadows, Brett Halsey, Robert Dix and Rick Lenz.

Lynn also was once asked to play the mother of transgendered character "Christine Jorgensen" in the film "The Christine Jorgensen Story" (1970), but turned it down. The part of the mother "Florence" was then given to actress Ellen Clark.

In April 2007, Lynn was a guest of Missouri Governor, Matt Blunt at the Missouri's Governors Mansion in Jefferson City, Missouri. She is also a 2006 inductee of the Missouri Walk of Fame, located in Marshfield, Missouri. She received the 2007 "Edwin P. Hubble Medal of Initiative," the city of Marshfield's highest honor. Lynn claims the Missouri town as "her adopted hometown." During the 2007 "Cherry Blossom Festival" she was honored by the city for her 80th birthday. She also received recognition from the Missouri House of Representatives and spoke to the Missouri State Senate.
