The term "
intelligent design " came into general usage following the publishing of a 1989 book called "Of Pandas and People " co-authored by Davis andDean H. Kenyon . The pair suggested thatDarwinism , more than a century old, had outlived its usefulness, primarily becauseevolution was unable to explain all the biological complexities, which they argue show evidence of anintelligent designer . Davis additionally co-wrote "Case for Creation," withWayne Frair , published through Chicago'sMoody Bible Institute in 1983.In a November 14, 1994 "
Wall Street Journal " front page article concerning "Of Pandas and People", Davis is attributed with saying "Of course my motives were religious. There's no question about it."Fact|date=April 2008 However, contrary to what may have been implied in the Wall Street Journal article, Davis stated during a July 2007 interview that he has never granted an interview to the Wall Street Journal. Also in July 2007, Davis revealed that he has never received any money from "Of Pandas and People", nor has he received any monies from anything related to the book.Fact|date=April 2008
