Netherlands national football team . He came from a school of strikers who played in the De Meer Stadium of Amsterdam – the home of Ajax. His contemporaries wereFrank Rijkaard ,John van 't Schip ,Marco van Basten andGerald Vanenburg : these youngsters made the 1980s a highly successful decade for the Netherlands, Ajax and PSV. He won Euro 88 inGermany , in which his contribution was the only goal in the game against theRepublic of Ireland eight minutes from time, which helped the Dutch overtake Ireland to finish second in Group 2, and secure a place in the semi-final. Kieft also won the European Cup (now known as the Champions League) with PSV that same year. He is now a football pundit for the television channelsSport1 and RTL.His son
