Kemal Kurspahić (born on
December 1 ,1946 inMrkonjić Grad ,Bosnia and Herzegovina ) is a Bosnianjournalist . He started his career as a small town correspondent forOslobođenje in October 1962 while still in high school. He became a professional correspondent for Oslobođenje inBelgrade in 1969. He moved to Sarajevo in 1974. In December of 1988 he became the editor-in-chief ofOslobođenje . He was awarded The Courage in Journalism Award in 1992 (International Women's Media Foundation - Washington, D.C.). He was one of the two editors that was named International Editors of the Year for 1993 by the World Press Review for their "bravery, tenacity, and dedication to the principles of journalism." He once said “not only were we not silenced, but we became stronger.
