Catherine Picard (August 14, 1952 - ) is a French politician from the French Socialist Party. She used to be a member of the French National Assembly.

Career

Responsible for public education, Picard was elected on June 1, 1997 to the French Socialist Party.

With centrist senator Nicolas About, Picard drafted the About-Picard law, on June 12, 2001. Picard has close ties to politician Jean-Luc Mélenchon.

Picard is president of the " [http://www.unadfi.com/ Union Nationale des Associations de Défense des Familles et de l'Individu victimes de Sectes] " (UNADFI), and appeared in this role as a commentator in the 2004 France 3 documentary on Landmark Education: Voyage to the Land of the New Gurus.

Picard is the regional adviser of Haute-Normandie.
