- Whip-Ma-Whop-Ma Gate
Whip-Ma-Whop-Ma-Gate is one of the smallest streets in
York ,England , if not the smallest. It is between Colliergate and Fossgate and intersects The Pavement and The Stonebow in the York city centre. It is 35 metres long and was once the location of the city'spillory , hence the name. On older maps, the street was called "Whitnourwhatnourgate", "Whit nour what nour" meaning "neither one thing, nor the other" in Anglo-Saxon.External links
