Joe David Brown

Joe David Brown (12 May, 1915 - 22 April, 1976) was an American novelist and journalist from Birmingham, Alabama. He was a foreign correspondent with TIME magazine from 1952-1958 in India, France and England. He continued working with TIME into the 1960's.His novels included "Stars In My Crown"; the World War II drama, "Kings Go Forth", which explored themes of male friendship and interracial relationships; and the Great Depression-era con artist comedy, "Addie Pray". All of these were adapted into motion pictures, "Addie Pray" as "Paper Moon". Brown served during the Second World War in the 517th Parachute Regimental Combat Team paratroopers and was recognized with the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and the French Croix de Guerre with palm.
