Vertou is a "commune" in the "département" of Loire-Atlantique and the Pays de la Loire "region" of France. It is located on the River Sèvre Nantaise, and was a historical town of Brittany.

Today, Vertou is a component of the metropolitan Urban Community of Nantes Métropole and is the fifth-largest suburb of the city of Nantes, lying just southeast of Nantes. In the 1999 census, Vertou had a population of 20,268. The commune has a land area of 35.68 km² (13.776 sq mi).
