St. Anne School (Seattle, Washington)

St. Anne School is a fully accredited private primary school located in Seattle, Washington which educates students in grades pre-kindergarten through eighth. The school is named after Saint Anne, the mother of The Virgin Mary and first opened its doors on September 4, 1923.

There are about 231 students at St. Anne School. There is also a pre-school with 20 additional children. 78% of the students are white, 3% are Asian American, 2% are African American,3% are Hispanic, 1% are Native American and 10% are multiracial. The age of the children ranges from 4 (pre-kindergarten) to 14 (8th Grade). According to the St. Anne home page: "The mission of St. Anne School, in partnership with parents and the parish family, is to provide a quality Catholic education which promotes academic excellence, fosters the living of Gospel values, builds Christian community and inspires compassionate service." This school was recently remodeled during the summer of 2002 and received a new gymnasium, music room, and added a middle school (6-8) wing.

Every year there is the annual St. Anne School auction. There is a different theme every year including the recent 2006 Feng Shui in May. Past themes have been "Go for the Gold" (an Olympic theme), Mardi Gras, and Rock the Casbah. The items auctioned off here range from a Mariners game in Jamie Moyer's suite, to artwork done by the kindergarten class.
