Caroline Bauer ( _de. Karoline Philippine Auguste Bauer; March 29, 1807 in
Heidelberg, Germany – October 18, 1878 in Kilchberg, Zurich, Switzerland) was as an actress who used the name Lina Bauer. Her father was Heinrich Bauer. Her mother was Christiane Stockmar, (b. 1785 inCoburg, Germany and died in 1842 inMannheim, Germany ). Caroline's siblings were Lottchen, Karl and Louis. She was a cousin ofChristian Friedrich Freiherr von Stockmar , an advisor ofLeopold I of Belgium . On 2 July 1829, Caroline married Leopold (later King Leopold I of Belgium), in a civil ceremony (a private marriage-contract). Caroline was created Countess of Montgomery but the marriage ended in 1831. She died in 1877 and is buried in Switzerland. .After the King's death, she remarried. Her second husband was Wladyslaw Plater. He was born November 7, 1808 in Wilna, Poland. They were married in 1843. He died on April 22, 1889 in Broelberg, Switzerland.
Her cousin Marie Bauer was married to
Marian Langiewicz , leader of the Polish Insurrection of 1863; they married in Switzerland.
