subdivision = See text. Arrowgrass is the common name for members of the genus "Triglochin". The genus belongs to the family Juncaginaceae and counts about a dozen-and-a-half members. North America has four (or five) species, two of which can also be found in the British Isles (and Europe): "Triglochin palustris", marsh arrowgrass and "Triglochin maritimum", sea arrowgrass. Australia has many more. Arrowgrasses are used as food plants by the larvae of some Lepidoptera species including Grey Chi.
