Nigerien Self-Management Party

Nigerien Self-Management Party

The Nigerien Self-Management Party (commonly PNA-Al'ouma, French: Parti Nigérien pour l’Autogestion-Al'ouma) is a political party in Niger. The President of the party and only elected deputy to date is Sanoussi Jackou. Jackou was a former deputy and co-founder of the Democratic and Social Convention (CDS), which expelled him in 1996 when he chose to take up ministerial posts in the government of Ibrahim Baré Maïnassara. The PNA-Al'ouma was formed in early 1997.[1][2]

"Al'ouma", the party's nickname, is an Arabic language loan word meaning "Community" in Hausa.[3]

The PNA-Al'ouma contested the parliamentary election of 4 December 2004 in an alliance with the Nigerien Party for Democracy and Socialism, winning its first seat in the Nigerien National Assembly, held by Jackou.
