Saint-Rambert-en-Bugey is a commune in the department of Ain in eastern France.

History

The commune takes its name from St Rambert (or Ragnebert) who was assassinated here in the 7th century. The site soon became popular for pilgrimage and an influential abbey was built in the town.

Administration

The canton, part of the arrondissement of Belley, includes the communes of Arandas, Argis, Chaley, Cleyzieu, Conand, Évosges, Hostiaz, Nivollet-Montgriffon, Oncieu, Saint-Rambert-en-Bugey, Tenay and Torcieu making up a total population of about 5,000 residents.
