Barek worked without a partner for some time before working with Logan, and this often showed in her habit of talking to herself while examining a crime scene.

In 2006 (at the end of the fifth season), it was indicated that she may have been transferred to a different department, or reassigned to a new partner. The show gave no reason. She was replaced by Megan Wheeler (Julianne Nicholson).
