History
Deportivo Pereira is the only professional team in the department of Risaralda where there are also several boxes of the First C seeking promotion to the B.
In the season 1949, Deportivo Pereira made its debut in Colombian Professional Soccer, replacing University, founded in club Bogota, but last season they had played in the 'Pearl of Otún'.
In more than fifty years has never been champion of the first division, reaching four third places in their best presentations. The last of it, in 1974. Although the team most remembered was the 1982 led by Gilberto Osorio, and that alignment was based on Oscar Hector Quintabani, "mouse" Echeverri, Victor Longo, Viáfara Henry, Gilberto Cabrera, Farid Perchy, Sergio Close, Toro, Benjamin "Mincho" Cardona, Emilio Eduardo Vilaretey Jairo 'Chiqui' Aguirre. Archer alternate Reynel Ruiz, in the middle Manzi, Ponciano Castro and Abel Augusto Lobatón forward, Hernan "gunman" Villa, Ivan Dario "chumin" Castaneda, came to the final octagonal Santin and Uruguay. In 2000 Walter continue to be technical Aristizabal and figures like Rafael Castillo, Hernan Dario Cardona, Daniel Velez and Jairo Serna, won the tournament for the First B and did not return to professionalism. Since then again three phases semifinals, and will be highlighted at the opening quarter in 2003.
In 2011, Panama defender Luis Moreno is facing sanctions after he kicked an injured Barn Owl that landed on the field during a game when his Colombian club Deportivo Pereira was playing Atletico Junior. The owl, which later died of its injuries was a mascot for Atletico Junior. The owl had landed injured near the corner of the field when Moreno walked over and kicked it about three yards. Atletico Junior fans shouted "murder, murder."[1]
