Heather Taylor (born
9 September ,1977 inEdmonton ,Alberta ,Canada ) is a Canadianpoet , playwright & educator, who is a regular on the Londonpoetry scene where she displays her natural ability to reach out to an audience. Her writing has been published throughout Europe & North America & she has been a host onResonance FM & Sound Radio with guest slots onCKUA (Edmonton), CKUF (Victoria) & BBC London Radio. Her full collection "horizon & back" was published by Tall Lighthouse in October 2005.She studied music, acting and writing in western Canada. After working on over 30 film and theatre productions both onstage and off, Heather began performing her own solo work in Vancouver and co-produced the multimedia showcase Skidrow Theatre with Silent Productions. In January 2002, Heather pulled up stakes and moved to London, England. Since arriving in the UK, she has been a featured performer at Borders, Poetry Café, Book Slam,
RADA , Camberwell Arts Festival, Harrow Festival, Runnymede International Literature Festival, andGlastonbury Festival . She has also performed at theArnolfini Gallery (Bristol) andGuardian Newsroom as part of the RememberKen Saro-Wiwa project which will continue to tour through 2007. She is one of the founders of [http://www.practicumtheatre.com Practicum Theatre] and has been a member of Malika’s Poetry Kitchen.Recently Heather was touring the 2-woman poetry and music show, "Accents on Words". It was launched at the Poetry Café in London in November 2005 and has since been performed at a number of venues, including The
British Library with BBC Radio London, BAC with Apples and Snakes, TheAran Islands (Ireland) and India with theBritish Council for Mumbai Poetry Live. In December 2007 Heather Taylor took part in first Belgrade International Poetry festival "Beogradski Trg".As a playwright, her work has been seen at the
Tricycle Theatre ,Soho Theatre ,Greenwich Theatre , the Pleasance, &Theatre 503 in London as well as New Place in St. Albans, G12 in Glasgow as part of the NewWriting NewWorlds Festival and various venues in Canada.As an
educator , Heather works with children, youth and adults in the areas of writing for theatre and film as well as poetry and prose writing and performance. In her most recent project at Blackfriars Settlement with a girls group ages 11-15, the girls commented that by working with Heather they were able to be brave and could work where people always encouraged them and never put them down and in future will now think more about themselves and try and have more confidence and feel more free to express themselves.Other works
