Transit Museum Society

The Transit Museum Society (TRAMS) is dedicated to the restoration and preservation of old and decommissioned transit vehicles in Vancouver and the adjoining areas. Based out of Coast Mountain Bus Company's Surrey Transit Centre, TRAMS has a fleet of ten operational vehicles, and six vehicles are pending restoration.

Vehicles

These vehicles were previously in use by both public and private operating companies between 1925 and 1985.

Ex-transit vehicles include:

*Brill trolley Coach 2040, a 1947 Canadian Car T-44. The last of these vehicles was retired by BC Hydro & Power Authority in 1976
*GMC "New Look" 4612, a GMC TDH4519. The last of these vehicles were retired in about 2000.

More vehicles are listed on the TRAMS website.

Plans

In 2005, TRAMS planned to acquire several vehicles in the following five years. These vehicles played a big part in the Vancouver transit system, including the infamous Flyer E901A-10240 trolley coaches which will be in service until 2008, '91 Flyer D40HFs, the 90s workhorse, and the '89 GMC/MCI Classics both of which are still in service today, planned to be phased out as newer vehicles arrive.

Vancouver Downtown Historic Railway

Volunteers from TRAMS operate the Vancouver Downtown Historic Railway.
